On Tuesday I sat down with Tim Furst, an organizer for the Moisture Festival.   It was a very insightful meeting, and he did an excellent job explaining all the different gotchas in a project like this.   It is amazing how much goes into organizing a show like this.

Tim suggested that Circus Open Mic start off under an Umbrella Nonprofit while it is getting started.  The Moisture Festival started out this way until they grew too large and needed to become there own nonprofit.   I will need to do some more research into what exactly needs to happen, but I think there are a couple possibilities like The Moisture Festival, SANCA, and Cafe Nordo/Circus Contraption.  I will be setting up meetings to talk with the appropriate people.

The other big hole that popped up was insurance.  This is a big unknown, and I think is the biggest blocker to putting on the show.  Tim thought that the Umbrella Nonprofit might be a good way to get insurance.  I will be looking into that also.
